When the Ascalonian Empire began to launch more frequent campaigns against outlying states, it became obvious. They sought to raise an army, and they needed ignorant humans to stock their fodder. Many of the Abducted choose to return to the kingdoms of whence they were born; with no family, no attachments, and no safety net. They walk two common paths: becoming sell-swords, or joining the fight to resist Ascalon's growing imperial reign.
