*** ![[8CE10C33-67C5-429E-B2C5-FB2B981A26E8.jpeg]] ## From Thin Air The Upheaval references an event taking place 150 years ago where a city known as [[Odurne]], carrying some odd 6.6 million inhabitants, appeared out of thin air in the land previously known as East [[Commonwealth of Paignia|Paignia]]. The appearance of the city led to international concerns as its manifestation was completely unexpected. With the appearance, Odurne brought strange and foreign weaponry along with it. The city almost seemed to have been plucked from the future, and Odurne made quick work industrializing its newfound home. This of course brought tensions between what would now be the [[Free States of Odurne]] and the [[Commonwealth of Paignia]]. Conflicts arose, chiefly the [[Shortwars]], so named for being a mere three years. Odurne's engineering prowess and advanced weaponry made quick work of Paignian forces, which led to the Commonwealth eventually ceding its eastern territories to Odurne, which in turn became known as the Free States as Odurne annexed outlying cities within its borders. Since then, a more neutral and beneficial friendship emerged between the two states as Odurne had brought along a second sun, which increased the potency of the [[Sunwell]], a deity worshipped by Paignia. Despite this, Odurnian's face staunch discrimination within Erebus at large, mainly due to a believe that they were transported from the hells themselves, sent to destabilize Erebus. This theory is formally adopted by the [[Ascalonian Empire]].
